Lesson 10 Flashcards
For the angels God created
a home or dwelling place
God set some rules to govern the behavior of
angels
While Ezekiel’s graphic description in 28:1-19 refers primarily to the the King of Tyre, it appears to symbolize
more and suggest one behind the earthly king who inspired his conduct
In appearance, angels are said to be
bright and dazzling creature who inspire awe in those who see them
Describe the angels’ condition following their creation
- Angels emerged at their creators’ word as a vast company
- dwelt in a pure environment since sin did not exist
- beautiful beings, who lived in dazzling splendor in God’s presence
- God established rules to govern their behavior which gave them moral freedom
While the primary references in Ezekiel and Isaiah indicate 2 earthly kings, from the language, we may infer that the exalted cherub (satan)
- May have lead worship and anthems of praise towards God
- Acutely aware of his position, beauty, wisdom, and brightness
- Was led to become increasingly self-centered, covetous, and ambitious
- despised the limitations God placed on His creatures
- Rebelled against God because of his pride
Scripture that reveals the cause and consequence of the devil’s rebellion
1 Tim. 3:6 - He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil
What represent consequences of the exalted one’s fall
- The angelic host was divided since each angel exercised his moral freedom
- The angels who chose to follow satan were banished forever from God’s presence
The angelic fall included
- The devils decision to exalt himself to a position of equality with God.
- Satan’s decision to include other angels in the conspiracy by assuring them that they could exist with no moral limitations
- the delusion that creatures can be creators
The results of the angels’ decision concerning the revolt led by the guardian cherub included
expulsion from God’s presence
One consequence of the fall of angels was they lost
their holy character
From Jude’s statement which says that the rebel angels abandoned their home and did not keep their positions of authority, it appears that
their rebellion involved a conscious decision
Satan committed to strike back at God through
his people
Holy angels remain in God’s presence, serving him faithfully and are
confirmed in their holy condition
The condition of evil angels after their fall indicated
- some are bound in darkness
- some are free to carry out Satan’s purposes
- they form an evil kingdom of the air
