Q

Define SlicerDicer

A

Designed to help physicians and population health leaders do their own on-the-fly data exploration and reporting on patient populations. The SlicerDicer process involves selecting a patient population and then
choosing criteria such as demographics, diagnoses, lab results, or current medications to create investigative queries. After reviewing the results, you can make changes to queries to refine those results and hone in on meaningful information.

Some use cases are:

  • Find trends across groups of patients.
  • Look for demographic correlations.
  • Show evidence to patients to help change their behavior.
  • Compare treatments over time.
  • Use the data.

Q

Define Reporting Workbench: Report, report results, My Reports, Library

A

Reporting Workbench is an Epic reporting tool run by your clinical staff to keep track of and take action on managing the health of patient populations.

Run a Report: Reporting Workbench is available in the Reports workspace. To access it, use Chart Search on “my reports” or go to Epic button > Reports > My Reports. There are two activity tabs in this workspace: My Reports and Library. Also, dashboards can be set up with a component that provides your Reporting Workbench favorites that are otherwise found in My Reports.

When you run a report, it cycles through three statuses:

  • Submitted: Reports run one at a time in generic queuing. If someone submits a report to run before you do, your submission waits its turn.
  • Running: A report can take a few seconds to 10 minutes to run depending on factors such as the lookback period and number of criteria.
  • Ready to View

Read the Results
The report results appear in an activity in Reporting Workbench. The top pane provides a list of all patients that matched the evaluated criteria and shows relevant data in columns. At the bottom are patient-specific reports. The data columns and report toolbar buttons are controlled by the report setup.
- Look at the report results. Read hover bubbles for the scores.
