Lesson 1 - Water Cycle Flashcards
What is the Hyrdosphere?
All the water which includes seas, oceans, rivers and lakes, rocks, soil, living things and the atmosphere.
What forms does the hydrosphere appear in?
The different forms it appears are in solid (ice), liquid (water) and gas (water vapour)
What is a Biosphere?
Part of earth where organisms live
What is the name of a typical underground water store?
Aquifer
What is infiltration?
This is when water moves from the surface into the soil just below
What is percolation?
This is the downward movement of water through the soil and into the ground water. The speed depends on how saturated the soil is.
What is condensation?
Warm air rises, cools, condenses and cause clouds to form. Water in gas form (vapour) is transformed in to liquid.
What is transpiration?
Water is released from stomata in the pores in the leave and then evaporates.
