Applications that rely on Active Directory have the ability to use an application’s data partitions to store application-specific data.
Applications, services, or administrators can create application data partitions as container objects.
Application data partitions
An object that can be defined as part of the Active Directory’s replication topology using the Active Directory Sites and Services tool.
Connection objects are automatically created to manage Active Directory replication, and administrators can use them to manually control the details of how and when replication operations occur.
Connection object
A way in Windows Server 2012 NTFS to limit the amount of hard drive space on which users can store data.
You can set up quotas on a volume and on individual users.
Disk quota
A Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Server 2012 feature that replicates only the part of Active Directory that changed since the last replication cycle.
Linked value replication
File system used for Windows NT-based operating systems (Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8).
NTFS offers features such as local security on files and folders, data compression, disk quotas, and data encryption.
