I have an excellent class.
J’ai une classe excellente.
There’s a good student.
(masculine or feminine)
Voilà un bon élève.
(une bonne élève)
We are friendly and fun.
Nous sommes aimables et amusant(e)s.
She has a new friend.
Elle a un nouvel ami.
Elle a une nouvelle amie.
(Either sentence is correct, but take note of the differences.
NOUVEL is required in the 1st sentence because “ami” is masculine, singular and starts with a vowel. In the 2nd sentence, NOUVELLE is needed because “amie” is feminine.)
We have a bad test.
Nous avons un mauvais test.
That’s a long interesting film.
C’est un long film intéressant.
C’est une longue vidéo intéressante.
(The differences occur due to the use of film which is masculine, or vidéo which is feminine.)
My mark on the test is good,
but
your mark is terrible.
Ma note sur le test est bonne,
mais
ta note sur le test est terrible.
(Notice that “bonne” describes the feminine “note”, not “le test”.)
Madame is interesting but odd.
Madame est intéressante mais bizarre.
You (s) have a new class.
Tu as une nouvelle classe.
Note that the (s) indicates the singular form of “you”.
You (pl) have a better school.
Vous avez une meilleure école.
Note that the (pl) indicates the plural form of “you”.
Your class is excellent and interesting.
Ta classe est excellente et intéressante.
