Length and Time Flashcards
1
Q
How can you find the density of a regular solid?
A
- Use a ruler to calculate the volume
- Record its mass
- Use the appropriate equation
2
Q
How can you find the density of an irregular solid?
A
- Fill a measuring cylinder with water about half its volume and record the volume of the water in the cylinder
- drop the solid into the water
- Record the new volume
4 The difference is the volume of the solid
OR
displacement beaker - Fill the beaker with water as much as you can without having any water displaced
- Place a measuring cylinder at the spout of the beaker
- Place the solid into the beaker
- The measuring cylinder should collect the displaced water which is equal to the volume of the solid
3
Q
How can the accuracy of measurements be improved?
A
By repeating the experiment multiple times and calculating an average
4
Q
How can very small distances be measured
A
Using a micrometre screw gauge
