Employers have a responsibility to keep employees safe. Employees also have a responsibility to keep themselves and others safe.
Overseen by the health and safety executive (HSE).

What areas do the Health and Safety (First Aid) regulation cover?
- The training of FA’s- sets syllabus for courses
- Advises on number of FA’s required in workplace, based on risk assessment
- Regulates contents of FA kits
- How signs must be displayed advising on how to seek first aid help; need to display a white cross on a green background
- States that all accidents in the workplace must be recorded
What does RIDDOR stand for?
Reporting of incidents, diseases and dangerous occurrences regulation
When was RIDDOR put in place?
2013
What needs to be RIDDOR reported?
- Life threatening or life changing injuries. 2. Certain industrial diseases.
- Incidents which could have caused injury, but fortunately didn’t.
(All of these have to reported to the HSE)
What does COSHH stand for?
Control of substances hazardous to health
