A federal civil rights law that required that students with disabilities be provided with accommodations and modifications to address their individual needs. The plan is used in school, work, and college.
What did the Education for All Handicapped Children’s Act of 1975 (PL- 94-142) do?
A federal law that mandated that all students receive free and appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment
What did PL 99-457 do?
A federal law that expanded services to children from birth to 5 years who needed special education
What did the IDEA (PL 108-446) do?
A federal educational law that mandated that students with disabilities receive supports and accommodations to participate and succeed in a general education classroom. It also mandated that children with developmental delays from birth to 5 receive services. It mandated assessments that are non-discriminatory and multidisciplinary. It mandated that students with disabilities also be provided services to help them gain more education, work, and live independently.
What did the No Child Left Behind act of 2001 do?
A federal law that mandated that states used scientifically-backed practices to teach, especially to teach reading; states can do more with money given by the federal government; states are held accountable for the educational performances of students; parents and guardians are allowed to participate in school matters.
