Leg Muscles Flashcards
Origin of Gastrocnemius
medial and lateral femoral condyle (two heads)
Insertion of Gastrocnemius, Soleus and Plantaris
As calcaneal tendon on posterior calcaneal (Plantaris lies most medially)
Innervation to posterior Led
Tibial Nerve (L4,L5,S1)
Action of superficial leg muscles
Plantarflex ankle
Origin of Soleus
Fibula head, proximal fibula and tibia shaft
Origin of Plantaris
Lateral femoral condyle
Origin of Popliteus
Proximal posterior tibia
Insertion of Popliteus
Lateral Femoral Condyle
Action of Popliteus
Rotates tibia medially therefore unlocking the knee
Origin of FHL
Posterior inferior fibula
Origin of FDL
Posterior inferior tibia
Origin of Tibialis posterior
Posterior middle tibia and adjacent interosseous membrane
Insertion of FHL
Base of distal 1st phalanx
Insertion of FDL
Bases of distal 2nd-5th distal phalanx
Insertion of Tibialis Posterior
Navicular, medial and middle cuneiform, 2nd to 4th metatarsals
