Lecture questions Flashcards
What are the characteristics and advantages of probability sampling
- selection not subject to researcher bias
- maximizes representativeness
- everybody is included in the random selection process
What are the differences in sampling goals between qualitative and quantitative research?
Qualitative - best sources of data relevant to the study, insights to the phenomenon so we are choosing the sample to get this.
Quantitative - make sure our sample is representative of the rest of the population we want a sample that allows us to say there was a causative factor between A & B and not because there are variations in the sample that we have got
Define mixed methods research
research in which the investigator integrates findings and draws inferences using both qualitative and quantitative approaches or methods in a single study
Which is the best research design
the appropriate research design is the one that will best answer the research question.
What is clinical governance
a system through which organisations are accountable for continuously improving the quality of their services and safeguarding high standards of care by creating an environment in which excellence in clinical care will flourish
