What is prejudice?
prejudice is the holding of derogatory attitudes or beliefs towards a group of people
What is an authoritarian personality?
a person with an authoritarian personality type is often very open and honest about their thoughts and opinions, even if they are controversial
What did Adorno et al claim about the relationship between childhood and personality?
he believed that the want for power was derived from childhood, this is when people learn they can’t be angry and aggressive towards people who have power, so ultimately they pick on people with less power in society
What is the Realistic Conflict Theory?
prejudice is something that is opposed on us from the outside, you belong in a group and if one group is getting benefitted more, you tend to not like them
What did the Sheriffs Feild Experiment findings show?
The findings from Sherif’s Robbers Cave Field Experiment showed that intergroup conflict and hostility can arise naturally when groups compete for limited resources, but cooperation and positive relationships can be fostered when the groups work together toward shared goals. This highlighted how group dynamics and shared objectives influence prejudice and conflict resolution
