What did Freud assume?

A

Freud assumed that inside of us was a series of drives that reflects our desires and our wants, sex and violence, he believed if we were left on our own and not subject to socialization we would commit crimes for satisfaction

A

the unconscious mind is a dynamic realm of wishes, feelings and impulses that lie beyond our awareness

Where is the ID, and what does it control?

A

The ID, which is found only in the unconscious mind is the most basic (primitive) part of the psyche. It represents basic instincts, desires, and impulses, operating unconsciously and driven by the pleasure principle.

Where is the ego, and what does it control?

A

The Ego is found in all 3 subsections of the mind, it has direct contact with the outer world and operates according to the reality principle, which seeks to satisfy the id’s desires in realistic and socially appropriate ways, balancing pleasure with the demands of reality.
