What is social psychology?
it is a discipline in which people attempt to understand, explain and predict how the thoughts, feelings and actions of individuals are influenced by the perceived, imagined or implied thoughts, feelings and actions of others
What was Rousseau’s view on people’s nature?
Rousseau believed that people were born with good natures; however it was the external environment and experiences that made people develop bad natures
What was Hobbs’ view on peoples nature?
Hobbs believed that people were born with bad natures, but the societal expectations and figures of authority and laws keep us from showing them
What is the cognitive perspective on social psychology?
emphasis on how perception affects behaviour
What is the learning perspective on social psychology?
emphasis on principles of reinforcement and imitation
What is the motivational perspective on social psychology?
emphasis on basic huma needs
What is the biological perspective on social psychology?
emphasis on evolutionary past and genetic disposition
What is the cultural perspective on social psychology?
emphasis on how culture affects social behaviour
What is the intra-personal level?
based on what goes on inside the person
What is the inter-personal level?
interactions between two individuals
What is the inter-group level?
based on group level behaviour
What is the societal level?
cultural effects on behaviour
