What is a task orientated leader?
Leader defines and structures his own role and others in order to achieve goal success
What is the best way to assess a leader?
Compare with similar groups
What is a person orientated leader?
Leader demonstrates trust towards subordinates, respect their ideas and show consideration of feelings
What is a democratic leader?
They are active in group affairs, they don’t just sit back and let the rest of the group do all the work.
What are contingency theories?
A leaders behaviour is necessary for a specific situation
What are transactional leaders?
They try to motivate subordinates
What is a transformational leader?
They encourage followers by setting a personal example that cause followers to become motivated and attached to them.
What is organisational culture?
Defines how those in an organisation should behave in certain circumstances
In the three step model what does successful change involve?
Unfreezing the present level
Moving to the new level
Refreezing the new level
What is the emergent approach?
The idea that organisations are constantly having to adjust to a changing environment.
