Lecture 9 Flashcards
What is the universal response to all tissue damage
Inflammation
In the presence of acute inflammation what are the 3 pathways cells can go down
The cells can regrow pathway, this results in regeneration of the damaged cells entirely restoring all previous function
The cell cannot regrow pathway, this results in healing by repair, a scar is formed to seal the wound and the specialised function the cell previously had has been lost
the damage persists pathway, this results in chronic inflammation that will persist if the damaging agent is not overcome.
if the damaging agent is overcome then a scar will form as the damage is more severe
What are the 3 main stages of inflammation
Vascular dilation
endothelial activation
neutrophil activation and migration
What acts on the blood vessels to signal damage has been done
Histamines/ tissue mast cells
