What is the difference between substance use and substance abuse
A
Use = Taking moderate amounts of a substance in a way
that doesn’t interfere with functioning
Abuse = Use that interferes with life functioning

How do the terms substance abuse and substance dependence differ between the Pre-DSM-criteria term and the current DSM-5 criteria
A
Pre DSM-5 Substance Abuse term: A maladaptive pattern of substance use, leading to
clinically significant impairment or distress, as manifested
by one (or more) symptom(s), occurring any time in a
12-month period
Current DSM-5 term:
