Determination of Acute or Chronic Anemia
based on blast count in bone marrow biopsy
Greater than 20 to 30% Blasts
Acute
Less than 20 to 30% Blasts
Chronic
Leukemia
Cancer primarily found in blood and bone marrow (can spill over into vascular)
Lymphoma
cancer primarily found in lymph nodes and lymphatic organs
Myeloid Line
Arises from Hematopoietic Stem Cells in the Bone Marrow
Gives rise to RBCs, Granulocytes, Monocytes, Platelets
Granulocytes consist of
Neutrophils, Eosinophils, Basophils
Monocytes turn into
Macrophages
Lymphoid Line
cells of lymphoid line play a role in adaptive immunity
differentiates into B and T Cells
