What is CASOs Mission?
Thriving children and youth, Resilient families and communities
What are CASO’s Goals?
- No child will grow up in our long-term care
- No child or youth will exit our care into loneliness
- Families feel empowered to make the best decisions for their child
What are the Types of Harm?
- Emotional harm is a pattern of negative behaviors by a caregiver to the child or youth. Shaming, blaming, humiliation, and belittling are examples
- Possible indicators of emotional harm include
———–Extreme behavior changes
————Social withdrawal and isolation
————Regression to developmentally inappropriate behaviors
————Self-harm and self-blame
————Emotional instability including outbursts and difficulty managing emotions
A child or youth can also be in need of protection due to exposure to intimate partner violence or adult conflict. Intimate partner violence is any behavior within an intimate relationship that causes physical, psychological, or sexual harm to those in a relationship

What is CASO?
The Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa (CASO) is a non-profit community organization that supports families and works to ensure the safety and well-being of children and youth
CASO works closely with
community partners, service providers, and children, youth, and their families to strengthen the capacity of families and communities.
