Lecture 8- Diffusion modelling approach pt2 Flashcards

Q
What are the key aspects of Agent based modelling?
A
- Agent based modelling (ABM) is supposed to overcome the limitations of mathematical models.
- It’s a recent trend based upon the bottom-up approach with the ability model emergent phenomena. This means, for example, the consideration of innovation on social-economic systems.
- ABM is based on an Atomic Model Element, which means that the focus is set on the individual consumer (the agent) and not the overall system.
- These features have led to a better understanding of macro-level dynamics of social systems, which aggregates individual behaviour.

Q
What are the technological spill overs within spatial difussion modelling and their connotations?
A
• Spill overs may occur through different channels:
- International exchange and foreign indirect investment.
- Knowledge and people.
- International cooperation (R&D).
