Q

What are the key aspects of Agent based modelling?

A
  • Agent based modelling (ABM) is supposed to overcome the limitations of mathematical models.
  • It’s a recent trend based upon the bottom-up approach with the ability model emergent phenomena. This means, for example, the consideration of innovation on social-economic systems.
  • ABM is based on an Atomic Model Element, which means that the focus is set on the individual consumer (the agent) and not the overall system.
  • These features have led to a better understanding of macro-level dynamics of social systems, which aggregates individual behaviour.

Q

What are the technological spill overs within spatial difussion modelling and their connotations?

A

• Spill overs may occur through different channels:

  • International exchange and foreign indirect investment.
  • Knowledge and people.
  • International cooperation (R&D).
