Describe the difference between simple and compound glands
Simple -
Difference between acinar and tubular glands
Acinar - large bulbous collection of secretory cells that secrete into a duct
Tubular -
Difference between serous and mucus
Serous - gland produces a clear, water like substance that contains enzymes
Mucous - gland produces a glycoproteins mixture (mucin)
What are the 3 glands in the mouth?
- Parotid
- Submandibular
- Sublingual
What are the vessels in the portal triad?
Hepatic artery
Portal vein
Bile duct
Name 2 types of cells in the space of diss
Dendritic cell
Stellate cell
What are kupffer cells and what are their roles?
- Specialised macrophages
- Their roles are to recycle erythrocytes over 120 days old
- They also ingest pathogens
sinosoidal vessel allows for kupffer cell to migrate into liver tissue at sites of inflammation and damage
Where are myoepithelial cells located and what are their functions?
They are located around Acini.
What are the functions of Ito cells?
- They are full of cytoplasmic vacuoles containing vitamin A
