Q

How are EXOCRINE glands formed from epithelial cells?

A
  • Growth signal is received at the epithelial cell.
  • This causes proliferation and extracellular protein degradation enzymes are produced
  • Epithelial cells invade space created
  • Central cells begin to die off to begin to produce duct.

Q

How are ENDOCRINE glands produced?

A
  • Growth factors received at epithelial cell
  • Causing proliferation of cells and release of degradation enzymes
  • Epithelial cells invade space made by enzymes
  • Production of angiogenic factors to stimulate blood vessel growth in and around the epithelial cells
  • Link to mother cells broken through apoptosis
