Lecture 6-blood Circuits Flashcards
Name the two circuits and stuff about them
Pulmonary Circuit
- medium resistance and pressure
- 9% blood volume
Systemic Circuit
- high resistance and pressure
- contains 10 systems
- has portal veins/double supply
- 84% blood volume (3/4 in veins)
Heart
- two muscle pumps
- 7% of blood volume
Building a ventricular pump
Has to be able to fill and eject blood.
Has atrium and appendage/auricle for increased filling speed
Has valves
Has entry and exit on same wall
Separated ventricles?
Internally is the septum, visible o the outside is the Anterior and Posterior Interventricular Sulci
Peak pressures
LA-5
LV-27
RA-8
RV-120
Atrioventricular valves?
Tricuspid- Right
Bicuspid/Mitral-Left
Have Chordae Tendineae and Papillary muscles
Orientation of LV and RV
The LV forms a cylinder shape and the RV wraps around the right hand side
Inlet and outlet?
Inlets have a larger lumen than outlets
Preak pressure is in a 5:1
Wall thickness is in a 3:1
Outlet valves
Aortic and pulmonary semi lunar valves
Semi lunar valve
They have 3 cusps that lack cords as the lumen is much smaller and they instead gain shape from their filled 3D shape
