Lecture 5 Flashcards
Spermatogenesis
Sum of all cellular transformations (mitotic divisions+meiosis+spermiogenesis) in developing germ cells witch give rise to spermatozoa
- SPERMATOGENESIS
- SPERMATOCITOGENESIS
- MEIOSIS
- SPERMIOGENESIS
- *(SPERMIOMORFOGENESIS)**
Spermatocitogenesis
Sum of all cellular transformations (mitotic divisions) in developing germ cells witch give rise to spermatids Take place in the seminiferous tubule
Three steps (periods):
- germination period;
- growth period;
- maturation period.
Spermiogenesis
The progressive morphologic changes of spermatides to form spermatozoa.
It is conducted in four phases:
- *1. Golgi phase;
2. Cap phase;
3. Acrozomal phase;
4. Maturation phase.**
Golgi phase
- First steps in developpment of the acrosome
- The Golgi apparatus give rise to many small vesicles (proacrosomic vesicles)
- The proacrosomic vesicles fuse to generate a large vesicle (acrosomic vesicle) containing acrosomic granules
- The centrioles migrate to the base of nucleus
- The proximal centriole will give rise to an implantation apparatus that allows the flagellum to be anchored to the nucleus
- The distal centriole give rise to the developing axoneme
Cap phase
Acrosomal phase
