How much does a presidential term long?
A term : 4 years
How many times you can become president in the us?
A president can only serve 2 times
What does it require to become president of the us?
The candidate must be a natural born citizen
He must be at least 35 years old
He must have been a resident in the us for at least 14 years
What is a swing state?
A state in which the Democratic and Republicans candidates both have a good chance of winning and that is considered key to the outcome of a presidential election.
What is the purpose of a primary?
The party members vote for the best candidate to represent them in the general election
What is the purpose of a caucus?
Party members select the beat candidate through a series of discussions and votes
What is the purpose of the caucusea and primaries? And when does it happen?
Primaries and caucuses are ment to chose a candidate from each party, it is organized from February to June (4 mouths)
Before the party members chose a candidate, what is there?
The campaign : candidates from each political party campaign through the country to win the favor of their party members.
What is are the national party conventions? And when do they happen?
From July to August there are gigantic m national meeting for both parties.
Each party have it’s own convention which last about 4 days.
The purpose is that the delegates confirm the results of the primaries, they select a nominee.
What is announced exactly in the national party conventions?
The presidential candidates and it’s runnig mate
What is a running mate and who chooses him?
The president chooses a running mate which means a vice-president
How do we call the combination of the president and the vice president?
“The tickets”
What is the other purpose of the national conventions?
It is to present the program also called “the plateform”
How do people follow conventions?
They are broadcast on TV, media events, everything is followed on TV.
What are the post election campaign and when do they happen?
From August to November the president travel across the country to present their ideas and convince voters they are also national debates with the other party.
What’s the role of the media in the post convention campaign?
The media plays an important role : president pay adds that tend to be negative to the other party. That is extremely expansive.
When does the election day (also called general election) happen?
The Tuesday following the first Monday of November in years divisible by 4.
How do we also call the election day?
The general election or also “the popular vote”
How do the votes work in the us ?
Regular people vote for the party list of electors (liste de grands electeurs) that said they will vote for a candidate.
Indirect elections.
How are the votes counted in the general election?
They count how many voters (in the party list of electors) the popular vote is counted separately on each state.
Does the populae vote determine who wins?
No, the final election is decided indirectly : it’s the electoral college who determine who wins.
What is the electoral college and when does it takes place?
It takes place in December. Each elector has one vote following the general election and the candidate
Who wins more than half of the votes (270) is elected.
How does the electoral college system works?
Each state gets a certain number of of elector based on it’s representation in the Congress.

In January
