Q
What are some important principles of item analysis?
A
learning objective - 1
2
Q
What are some of the tools used during item analysis?
A
learning objective - 1
- Item-difficulty index
- Item-discrimination index
- Item-validity index
- Item-reliability index
3
Q
contrast the item-difficulty and item- discrimination indices
A
part of learning objective 1
- Item Difficulty Index - the proportion of testtakers answering the item correctly
- Item Discrimination Index - the degree an item correctly differentiates the behaviour it was designed to measure

Q
What is the difference between criterion-referenced tests & norm-referenced tests?
A
learning objective no.2
- both tests may have items which high scorers get correct & low scorers get incorrect
- Norm-referenced tests - this makes it a good item
- however on a Criterion-referenced test, this is not what makes it a good item
-
Criterion-referenced tests -
- a good item checks whether a certain criteria is met
- e.g., when knowledge or mastery required e.g., doctor of medicine
