GAD –
Criteria (duration)
Excessive anxiety, worry x 6 months
Not worrying about anything specific
3 of the following: Irritable, restless, concentration, fatigue, sleep, muscle tension
Physical Symptoms – such as GI
Course of GAD -
median age of dx?
Chronic + episodes; low remission
Dx - 30 yo (But generally anxious throughout life time)
GAD – first and second line treatments
Treat: CBT, SSRis
Second line: buspirone, BZDs
can give benzo’s first along with SSRI as the SSRI takes a few weeks to kick in
OCD
Criteria
obsessions/compulsions which interfere with function
Compulsions used to relieve obsessions
Per first aid: Egodystonic behavior
OCD
med age of dx
associated comorbidities
Course
dx - 19.5 yo
Comorbid: MDD, tourettes, BP, anxiety
low remission
OCD – tx
CBT, SSRI, TCA (clomipramine)
OCD vs OCD personality D/o
ego syntonic;
No invasive thoughts, images, urges or repetiive actions;
Mal adaptive - patterns of excessive control and perfectionism
Panic D/o
criteria
Recurrent Panic Attacks (10 minutes to peak; at least four symptoms)
Followed by 1 month of:
worry about additional attacks
consequences of the attack
maladaptive changes
Symptoms of panic d/o
Paresthesias, palpitations Abdominal pain Nausea Intense fear; Light headedness, C- CP, Choking, chils S - shaking, sweating, SOB

- what is it?
exaggerated fear of open or enclosed places in which escape might be difficult or embarrassing in the event of a panic attack
Agoraphobia criteria
duration
> 6 months fear or anxiety
2 or more fears of:
public transportation, open spaces, closed spaces, standing in line,
avoidance behaviors
situation provokes anxiety
