- 100 hrs of CME biennially (every 2y)

What is category 1 CME?
- Formally planned activities following ACCME standards
- Documented acceptable needs assessment, learning obj, educational design, and evaluation method
- Must be given by an accredited CME provider
What is category 2 CME?
- Informally planned self-initiated activities
- Practice-based self study, consultations with colleagues, teaching, journal clubs, etc

What are the 2 occasions where we MUST release HIPAA information?
- Individuals/designated reps when they request
- Health and Human Services when investigating compliance
Who can HIPAA information be released to without specific authorization?
- Individual
- Tx/payment/operations
- When individual is able to agree/object (informal permission)
- Incidental use/disclosure if safeguards were in place
- Public interest/benefit (pub health, law enforcement, abuse)
- Limited data sets (research studies)
How is HIPAA permission disclosed?

What are the punishments for violating HIPAA?
