Q
  1. Rough Endoplasmic reticulum
A

a. Ribosomes
b. Involved in specific protein synthesis of enzymes, structural proteins (that’s why it needs ribosomes since it goes straight in ER)

Q
  • Cisternae: membranous channels and vesicles of the ER
A

o Each surrounded by ER lumen

o ER lumen chemically modifies proteins made on RER

Q
  • Folds of ER: increases surface area (refer to why are cells so small? = surface area to volume efficiency)
  • Individual folds=cisternae
