Lecture 3-4 endomembrane system Flashcards
1
Q
endmembrane system
A
a. Nucleus: instruction book
b. Ribosomes spit out, protein goes into ER goes into vesicle and make its way to Golgi apparatus
c. Secretory vesicles make its way to plasma membrane @ cis face, fuses with plasma membrane of cell and expels contents (waste)
d. Do vesicles have a specific site: not generally although they typically arrive at cis-face
2
Q
explain system
A
Proteins made by ER ribosomes enter ER membrane/ER cisternae. Chemical modification of some proteins begins. Membrane lipids also made. 2 Vesicle bud from the ER membrane and transport unfinished proteins and lipids to the Golgi complex Protein and lipid modification is completed. Products sorted into vesicles. 3 4 Secretory vesicles budding from Golgi membranes transport finished product to plasma membrane. 5 Lysosomes budding from Golgi membranes contain digestive enzymes.
