Q

how to find dom alleles?

A
  • Dominant alleles
    • Assuming HWE, we calculate q from taking the square root of q2
    • p=1-q
Once the assumtption is made, you cant test for equilibrium, the observed and expected numbers will be the same

Q

hoe do ABO blood groups work. is dominant always most freq?

A
  • Many variants
    ○ A and B are codominant to one another
    ○ A and B are dominant to O
    - Can take blood from everyone but can give only A or B
    ○ A person who phenotypically has A blood may have the AA genotype or the AO genotype.
§ A person who phenotypically has B blood may have the BB genotype or the BO genotype.
DOMINANT DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY MEAN HIGHER FREQUENCY
