why/how has BILL C-36 been harmful for sex workers?
Displacement of sex workers from safer indoor locations to more dangerous outdoor areas

Decreased ability to screen clients and negotiate safe and fair working conditions
Violation of the rights of sex workers, including their right to safety, privacy, and freedom of expression
Failure to effectively address the issue of human trafficking
Lack of adequate support and resources for sex workers who want to leave the industry
Leading to a cycle of poverty and exploitation for sex workers.
What is harm reduction?
is an evidence-based, client-centred approach that seeks to reduce the health and social harms associated with addiction and substance use, without necessarily requiring people who use substances from abstaining or stopping.i
PrEP (Pre-exposure prophylaxis)
PrEP involves taking a combination of medications to reduce the risk of acquiring HIV infection. It can be taken by HIV-negative individuals at high risk of infection
PrEP indications of use
If an individual acquires HIV infection, PrEP must be discontinued immediately.
PrEP is taken once a day, on an ongoing basis, in advance of high-risk activity. PrEP is less effective if the prescribed dosing schedule is not followed.
Post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP)
PEP is used to help prevent the acquisition of HIV infection by individuals who may have been recently exposed to HIV.
Pep indications of use
PEP is effective when taken within 72 hours of suspected high-risk exposure to HIV. It involves antiretroviral medications taken once daily for 4 weeks (28 days).
Fetishization
is the sexual fascination with things not inherently sexual like race, body types or identity.
It perpetuates racism, sexual harassment and sexual violence.
how effective is PrEP when used properly?
When taken as prescribed, the medication reduces the risk of acquiring sexually transmitted HIV by more than 90%.
