What is primary immunodeficiency?
Genetic immunodeficiency
What is secondary immunodeficiency?
Immunodeficiency brought on by drugs, infections, cancer or environmental factors
When does primary immunodeficiency usually present?
Infancy or childhood if less severe
Are inherited immunodeficiency diseases usually recessive or dominant?
Recessive (loss of function mutations)
What is the most common inherited immunodeficiency disease?
IgA deficiency
What type of infections are those with antibody deficiencies prone to?
Recurrent pyogenic infections
What type of infections are those with phagocyte deficiencies prone to?
Severe bacterial and fungal infections
What immune cell is commonly targeted by immunosupressive drugs?
T cells
