Lecture 2: The diagnostic process Flashcards
1
Q
Definition of diagnostic process
A
the sequence of measures to obtain diagnostically relevant information
2
Q
Planning phase
A
- Client
- (General) question
- Develop a specific question
- Translatable into psycholoigcal hypotheses?
- Formulation of hypotheses
- Operationalization
3
Q
Conduct phase
A
- Study planning and conduct
- Deta analysis
4
Q
Integration phase
A
- validation of hypotheses/integration of results stemming from different measures.
- Answer the (general) question/ integration of results pertaining to individual hypotheses.
5
Q
Psychological assessment can have two different goals …
A
- Terminal decision: a qeustion needs to be answered definetly
- Investigative decision: based on the current decisions, more questions are to be asked
6
Q
What diagnostic decision errors are there?
A
- Type A Error: a positive diagnosis is made although a negative diagnosis is “true” in reality
- Type B Error: a negative diagnosis is made athough a positive diagnosis is “true” in reality
7
Q
What is a report?
A
- intended for the client
- written documentation
- complete description and detailed treatment of all steps in the diagnostic process.
8
Q
DIN 33430 - What is that?
A
- a german process norm: quality standards for personnel assessment.
9
Q
What are the some goals (three) for DIN33430
A
- To disseminate (spread) scientific and professional information on measures for personnel assessment
- To support professional development and correct usage of measures.
- To encourage continues optimization of measures.
10
Q
What is all included in devising a study plan?
A
- sequence of measures
- starting time
- breaks
- place of testing
- test instructor(s)
11
Q
What happens in the planning phase - after you formulated the hypotheses?
A
- selection of indicator which need to be tested
- selection of decision strategy
- selection of measures (operationalization)
12
Q
What is part of the data analysis (conduct phase?)
A
- the scoring of applied measures
- systematic classification of obtained information corresponding to hypotheses.
