Lecture 18: Femoral Triangle Flashcards
1
Q
boundaries
A
- sup: inguinal lig
- medial: lateral border of adductor longus
- lateral/inf: sup border of sartorius
- floor: iliopsoas (lat) and pectineus (med)
- roof: skin and fascia (fascia lata; cribriform) of thigh
2
Q
retroinguinal space
A
- between inguinal lig and hip bone
- allows passage of femoral a/v/n from pelvis to femoral triangle
- these structures are easy to injure bc they’re close to the skin
3
Q
iliopectineal arch
A
divides retroinguinal space into lateral and medial compartments
4
Q
lateral (muscular) compartment contents
A
- iliacus
- femoral n.
5
Q
medial compartment contents
A
- femoral sheath
- pectineus
6
Q
femoral sheath
A
contains femoral artery and vein and inguinal lymph nodes in femoral (adductor) canal
7
Q
adductor canal contents
A
- femoral artery and vein
- saphenous nerve (cutaneous branch of femoral n) that provides cut innervation to lower leg
