Hill at Aegae first tomb
tomb of Persephone, Vergina (340 BCE). Wall paintings show the rape of Persephone by Hades. Painter used Fresco technique. We can see Demeter at the far end.
Hill at Aegae second tomb
Tomb of Phillip II (340-310). It has two engaged Doric columns. It has a painted frieze on the top. Two rooms - sarcophagus of gold and niello larnax found. Silver oinochoe with head of Silenus. Chryselephantine shield showing Achilles and Penthesilea. Second chest found with gold and purple decorations.
Kasta hill, Amphipolis tomb
Amphipolis served as the eastern commercial centre of Macedon. ‘Lion of Amphipolis’ found from 4th century BCE. Inhabitants could be Olympians. Inner shows Caryatids. Floor mosaic from chamber 2 shows rape of Persephone.
