Myron, original 450 BCE, set up on Athenian Acropolis, is a Roman marble copy. Significant as the only focus is an animal, highly detailed and realistic representation.
E.g. Discobolos
Myron, original 450 BCE, Roman marble copy 2nd c BCE. Multiple view points, detail in muscular definition - detail of veins.
E.g. Riace Warriors A and B
Eponymous heroes of Athens or Greek heroes at Troy, bronze originals 450 BCE by Phidias. Contraposto Warrior A has copper lips, silver teeth, inlaid stone eyes.
E.g. Doryphoros (spear bearer)
Marble Roman copy of Greek bronze original 450 BCE. Would have been holding a spear. Figure doing the chiastic pose. Similar to that of the Achiilles painter amphora of 445 BCE.
E.g. Diadumenos (fillet binder)
Polykleitos, marble Roman copy of bronze original, 430 BCE. Found on Delos in the so-called house of the Diadumenos.
E.g. Nike of Paionios
By Paionios of Mendes, 425-420 BCE. Commissioned by the Messenians and Naupaktians to commemorate the capture of Spartans on Sphakteria. Found at Olympia.
E.g. Marble funerary relief
Ampharete and grandchild in a naiskos. Possibly by Agorakritos. 430-420 BCE.
