brain stem is divided into three parts
midbrain , pons , medulla oblengata
Diencephalic structures:
- Optic Chiasma
- Optic tract
- Lateral geniculate body
- Hypophysis (only infundibulum is shown)
- Mammillary bodies
mid brain parts:
cerebral peduncles(רגליים של המוח ) שהוא חומר לבן
interpeduncular fossa ( space between tow peduncles) –> it has perforated substance (as black dots)
oculomotor nerve CN 3 (eyeball)
what nerves are not created from the brainstem
olfactory(1) that is telencephalon , optic (2) that is diencephalon
trochlear nerve
the only dorsal nerve (4) also responsible for eye ball
pons
it is like bridge in Venice created from metancephalon
pons parts:
basilar part of pons , basilar groove , Trigeminal nerve(5) (medial to it is the basilar part of pons)
middle cerebellar peduncle (מחברים את המוח הקטן עם פונז)
medulla oblongata parts:
pyramid( if we cut the medulla it will be as a Tringale)
olive (inferior and superior)
* Inferior cerebellar peduncles
* CN. 9,10,11
* CN. 12
Diencephalic Structures dorsal aspect:
- Thalamus
- 3rd ventricle
- Habenular triagone
- Pineal gland
- Medial geniculate body
- Lateral geniculate body
Midbrain dorsal aspect:
Tectum (=roof) of Midbrain
Lamina quadrigemina
* Superior colliculus
* Inferior colliculus
* Superior brachium
* Inferior brachium
* Trochlear nerve (CN. 4)

- Hypoglossal and vagal trigone
- Obex
- Area Postrema
hypoglossal nerve :
responsible for the movement of the tounge and it comes from down the tounge
