Lecture 11 - High Yield Flashcards
What arteries supply the dorsum of the foot?
Anterior tibial artery via dorsalis pedis artery, arcuate artery, and deep plantar artery
What arteries supply the sole of the foot?
Posterior tibial artery and perforating arteries
What does the superficial peroneal nerve give rise to?
Medial and intermediate dorsal cutaneous nerves
What nerves supply the dorsum of the foot?
Superficial peroneal nerve, deep peroneal nerve, and sural nerve
What nerves supply the sole of the foot?
Cutaneous Innervation: Tibial nerve (medial calcaneal, medial plantar, lateral plantar), saphenous nerve, and sural nerve
Motor Innervation: Tibial nerve via lateral and medial plantar nerves
What are the superficial layers of the sole of the foot?
Skin and plantar aponeurosis
What muscles and tendons are found in the first muscle layer of the sole of the foot?
Muscles: Abductor hallucis, flexor digitorum brevis, and abductor digiti minimi
Tendons: Flexor digitorum longus tendon and flexor hallucis longus tendon
What muscles are found in the second muscle layer of the sole of the foot?
Quadratus plantae and lumbricals
What muscles and tendons are found in the third muscle layer of the sole of the foot?
Muscles: Adductor hallucis, flexor digiti minimi brevis and flexor hallucis brevis
Tendons: Flexor hallucis longus tendon
Where does the flexor hallucis longus tendon pass through?
Passes between sesamoid bones in tendons of flexor hallucis brevis
What muscles and tendons are found in the fourth muscle layer of the sole of the foot?
Muscles: Dorsal interossei (4) and plantar interossei (3)
Tendons: Peroneus longus tendon and tibialis posterior tendon
