The Sepoy Rebellion

A

The Sepoy were Indian soldiers erving the British, mostly made up of Hindu and Muslim soldiers. This rebellion was aided by carefully-placed rumors that new British rifle bullets were coated with animal grease. They were in fact coated with mineral oil.

Japanese army and navy overwhelmingly defeated Russian military in both land and sea battles. The war was triggered over a Korea dispute. Japan showed western nations that Asian countries could compete with and defeat European nations.
