Lecture 10 Big Data And linked Data Flashcards
What is the difference between structured and unstructured data
Structured data is laid out according to some structure or pattern
Structured data is easy to find what you’re looking for
Can be processed by humans relatively quickly
Unstructured data has no pattern
It’s difficult to find anything
Computers can be used to help process the data and therefore find things
What is big data
Big data is data that can’t be processed or analysed using traditional processes or tools
What are the four V’s of big data
Variety
Velocity
Volume
Veracity
What is data variety
The different forms that data can take
What is data velocity
The speed at which data is processed or produced
What is data volume
The amount of data produced or consumed
What is data veracity
The truthfulness of data
What is Moores law
The law that suggests there are physical limits on performance of processors
Name 4 ethical topic about keeping data
Identity
Privacy
Ownership
Reputation
What is linked data
Linked data which real-world things are given addresses on the web
Data is published about them in the machine-readable formats
What is XML
A human readable plaintext format that is used to keep the structure of data
Designed to transport and store data
Who invented the eighth and linked data standards
Prof Sir Tim Berners-Lee
