Lecture 10 Flashcards
1
Q
Protein Folding Accessory Proteins
A
- Not all proteins can fold by themselves
- Help folding proteins quickly reach their native state
- Folding information still in primary sequence of the protein
2
Q
1-Protein Disulphide Isomerases (PDI)
A
Catalyze thiol-disulphide exchange so that correct disulphides will form in a folding protein and incorrectly formed ones will be rearranged to the correct ones
3
Q
2-Peptidyl Prolyl Cis-Trans Isomerases
A
- These enzymes increase the rate of the interconversion of cis and trans peptide bonds at proline residues
- peptide bond usually in trans configuration
