Food safety modernization act
most significant expansion of food safety requirements since enactment of Food Drug and Cosmetic Act in 1938
Food safety modernization act grants FDA a number of new powers including
mandatory recall authority, authorized to require that food offered for import be accompanied by a safety cert, detain suspicious food, suspend the operation of food facility
