Q

Define “establishing operation”

A

In the 4-term contingency. (establishing operation –> antecedents –> target behaviour –> consequences)

Establishing operation means the extend to which someone will find something reinforcing will change depending on the context, and we want people to be as motivated as possible to access a reinforcer to have the best chance at behaviour change.
