what is Psychology?
the study of the mind and behaviour that seeks to understand how we learn, think, act, learn, perceive and feel, interact with others and even understand ourselves
how is psychology a science?
it investigates natural and social world using methodologies
what is the aim of psychology?

what does ABC stand for ?
affect, behaviour and cognition
what does affect mean ?
how people feel inside, feel about themselves (self-esteem), feel about others (stereotypes) and how they feel about various issues (attitudes).

what people do and their actions.

what people think about. how they think about themselves (self-concept),
5 approaches in psychology?
psychodynamic - early life experiences, behaviourist - look at observable and replicable behaviour (believe that we are all been blank slate and our environment shapes us), biological - genetics, evolution and biological structures , cognitive - internal thought process and humanistic approach - nurturing personal growth
roles of psychologists?
research, teaching and consulting, exmaplain how we think, feel and act both individually and as part of a group
what is sport psychology?
sport psychology is a science in which the principles of psychology are applies in a sport or exercise setting
what are the aims of sport psychology?
understand how psychological factors affect an individuals physical performance
to understand how participation in sport and exercise affects a persons psychological development, health and wellbeing
