What is social psychology?
The scientific study of how we feel about, think about, and behave toward the people around us and how our feelins, thoughts, and behaviours are influenced by those people
What is a schema?
Mental framework or cognitive structure that helps individuals organize and make sense of the information they encounter in the social world
What are central traits?
Concepts that have a disproportionate influence on impressions of others
What are the 3 main types of schemas?
- Salience
- Priming
- Accessibility
What is the salience schema?
A property of the stimulus that attracts attention
What is the priming schema?
When exposure to a stimulus makes a subsequent mental process more likely or efficient
What is the accessibility schema?
The ease with which a schema comes to mind
