LEC 5: SELECTION OF STIMULUS PARAMETERS & ASSESSMENT RELIABILITY Flashcards
Algorithm is also known as?
Strategy
What does algorithm mean?
It describes how a spot of light is presented to a patient to determine the threshold.
What is HFA measured?
This is an original method of presenting a spot of light to a Px called FULL THRESHOLD APPROACH
Describe how HFA is measured?
Spot of light is presented from the non-seeing direction. Software does not detect any response from Px hence brightness is increased by 4dB. Till px can see. Once Px can see direction of spot of light is reversed in 2dB steps to estimate the threshold.
Why can the Px suddenly see in the HFA method?
This is because the threshold has been crossed, and you are now in the hiller vision. This is the seen part.
Does HFA measure exact or estimated threshold?
Estimated
4 ways of increasing accuracy in HFA method?
- Smaller steps/ smaller intervals
- More reversals
- More repetition
- Time also influenced by start level
What is the 3rd generation algorithm called?
