LEARNING - PRACTICAL INVESTIGATION Flashcards
AO1:
AIM: To investigate how many students and teachers within KEDST display anti social behaviour in breaking covid rules and if it was predominantly males or females.
IV: gender of ppts (male or female)
DV: how many time anti-social behaviour was displayed in 30 minutes
SAMPLE: opportunity sample of 16-17 year olds at KEDST in 30 minutes
AO1: hypotheses
directional: males are more likely to display anti-social behaviour by breaking covid rules than females
non-directional: there will be a significant difference in the amount of anti-social behaviour displayed (breaking covid rules) between males and females
null: there will be no difference between males and females in breaking covid rules and any difference is due to chance.
AO1: procedure
->covert observation from the library of people who were displaying anti-social behaviour by breaking covid rules (such as not wearing a mask, not using hand sanitiser, and socialising in large groups)
->a tally was made every time a guideline was broken and what gender the individual was
AO3: evaluation
G->(weakness) low generalisability
–>small opportunity sample of 16- 17 year old King Edwards vi college.
–>unrepresentative of the whole population as we do not know if males present more anti social behaviour than females passed that age.
R->(strength) high reliability
–>research to support through Bandura as he found males were more likely to display anti social behaviour than females especially in the presence of a same sex model.
–>therefore, results are more credible as it shows males are more likely to display more anti social behaviour than males and this can be due to the influence of others
A-> ?????????
V->(strength) high ecological validity
–>conducted within a natural environment within the library of King Edwards Vi college.
–>therefore, findings can be generalised as it was conducted within a normal setting therefore we can say that males are likely to display more anti social behaviour than females.
E->(weakness) unethical
–>the college students were a part of a covert design therefore they were not aware of the observation in the library.
–>therefore, informed consent could not be obtained and they had no right to withdraw therefore breaching ethical guidelines therefore the experiment cannot be replicated
