What groups does legislation protect?
children & and young people, vulnerable adults, ethnic minority groups, people with disabilities, men and women
What does the equality act do?
targets protected characteristics, equal pay, discrimination arising from a disability
How does the data protection act promote confidentiality?
data only used for its intended purpose, inaccurate data destroyed, date kept for no longer than is needed, not transferred to other countries outside the European economic areas
How does the health and safety at work act help?
staff have to be health and safety trained, risk assessments must be carried out, must wear PPE, staff have a responsibility to maintain a safe work place
what does the children’s act do?
protect children, children have the right to be heard, children’s wishes have to be taken in to account
what does the mental health act do?
sets out processes for people with mental health disorders, allows compulsory admissions or people who are thought to be a danger to themselves or others
