Learning and Memory Pt. III Flashcards

1
Q

Frames of reference

A

are coordinate systems that are either fixed or movable in relation to the environment. Moveable frames of reference can be anchored to various moveable objects, including the body, boats, cars and planes.

Q

Vectors

A

are variables that specify direction for reorientation or movement. They may specify distance as well, but need not do so, and must be specified within a frame of reference

Q

Orientation

A

is the process that establishes the place of the observer within the map of the environment. This requires interaction between observer-based and environment-based frames of reference. A minimum of three landmarks with distance information or two coordinates with vector information is required for successful orientation

Q

Global vs. local processing

A

Respond to either local or global feature
Target is x or o. If local faster with r hand cause contralater.
For global faster with left hand cause contralateral
Left is local detail and right is ?..

Q

Reconsolidation

A

A process of consolidation of a memory that occurs subsequent to the original consolidation that can be triggered by a reminder of the original stimulus; thought to provide the means for modifying existing memories.
