Learjet 35 PTM Chapter 1 (General) Flashcards
What is the maximum altitude of the Learjet 35?
45,000 ft
What is the total wingspan of the Learjet 35?
39 ft 6 in
What is the Height of the tail of the Learjet 35?
12 ft 3 in
What is the length of the Learjet 35?
48 ft 7 in
What are the main few things (When installed) in the nose compartment?
Avionics electronics
Oxygen bottle
Emergency air bottle
Alcohol anti-icing Reservoir
What is the maximum weight for the aft baggage compartment at the back of the cabin?
500 lbs
How wide is the standard entrance store? Also how wide is the optional larger door?
24 in
(36 in)
How many total locking pins are there for the door?
10 locking pins
How would you move the door hooks if the motor fails?
A ratchet handle, provided in the aircraft tool kit, can be used to operate the torque tube manually.
Which battery hot bus is the door motor powered from?
The left battery hot bus
If the red DOOR light illuminates, it could mean one of two things:
- Any one of the 10 latch pins is not engaged with its respective microswitch
- The hook drive mechanism is not completely retracted
The door is unsafe for takeoff If the red DOOR light is still illuminated
A hollow neoprene seal surrounds the door frame; It has holes to allow the entry of pressurized cabin air. What does this form around the door?
It forms a positive seal around the door
Is the emergency exit connected to the door light?
No
Why is it important to brief the passengers about the emergency exit?
What do you think? Just a memory jogger
Our windshield was tested against ___ lb bird strikes at ____ knots
4 lb, 350 knots
Is the fuselage tank pressurized?
No
(PTM 1-9 “…aft of the rear pressure bulkhead,”)
Name some of the things we have access to by opening the tailcone section?
The batteries
Electrical components
Fuel filters
Fuel computers
Refrigeration equipment
Engine fire extinguishers
Hydraulic components
The tail cone light is powered by which battery hot bus?
The left battery hot bus
If the tail cone light is left on, will it stay on when the compartment door is closed?
No, it will be turned off by a micro switch when the door closes.
What kind of flaps do we have?
Single slotted fowler flaps
What is the purpose of boundary layer energizers?
They function to delay airflow separation over the ailerons at high Mach numbers.
What is the purpose of the full-Chord stall fence?
To delay disruption of the airflow over the aileron at high angles of attack. (Chordwise and Spanwise Flow)
What is the purpose of the stall strip?
It generates a buffet at a high angle of attack to warn of an impending stall
What is the purpose of the aileron gap seal along the leading edge of each aileron?
To prevent water freezing and causing an aileron jam
What is the purpose of Delta fins?
They stabilize yaw minimizing dutch rolling tendencies and help to prevent deep stall characteristics
Tell me about the electrical system…
Key Points:
2 Engine driven generators producing DC power
Two 24 Volt Lead-Acid Batteries
Single or Dual emergency battery system
Can accept DC power from a ground power unit (GPU)
2 or 3 AC Inverters convert the DC power to supply AC power for equipment and instruments
What does the bleed air off of the engines heat?
The wing leading edge
the horizontal stabilizer leading edge
windshields
and the nacelle lips
What anti-ice systems are electrically heated?
Pitot Tubes
Static Ports
Pt2 Tt2 Sensors
TAT Probes
Stall Warning Vanes
How is cabin temperature regulated?
The cabin temperature knob adjusts the H valve, which controls the amount of bleed air allowed to bypass the heat exchanger.
How is the pressurization regulated?
By controlling the amount of air that is exhausted from the cabin. (A pressurization controller module and an outflow valve)
What is the one thing our electric auxiliary pump can not operate?
The spoiler/spoileron system
Tell me about the landing gear…
Key points:
- Electrically Controlled, Hydraulically Operated
- An emergency air bottle can be used to extend the landing gear or to provide air pressure for emergency braking
- Nose gear incorporates an electrical nose wheel steering system that has variable authority depending upon groundspeed
- Each main gear is equipped with multiple disc brakes and hydraulic breaking is controlled from either pilots rudder petals.
- A fully modulated antiskid system provides maximum breaking performance while protecting against tire skids
- Tire PSI!!!
Is the yaw dampening system independent of the auto pilot system?
YES
What are the T/O distance numbers in the AFM?
They are the greatest of the following:
1. 115% of the all-engine t/o distance from start to a height of 35’ above the surface.
2. The accelerate-stop distance.
3. The engine-out accelerate-go distance.
What 3 conditions have to be present to cause the Gear Warning Horn to sound?
Landing Gear not down and locked…
- Altitude is less than 14,500 +/-500ft
- Thrust lever below 55-60% N1
- Airspeed below 170 KT
